Jarrettown's Worship & Music Ministry
Jarrettown has a long history of excellence in music in our weekly Worship Services and special seasonal musical programs. Have your worship enhanced and deepened by our music, or join us in one of our musical groups.
Vocal Soloists, Ensembles and Instrumental Groups
Do you like to sing or play an instrument? There are multiple opportunities in the year to share those gifts either through solos or as part of ensembles: seasonal events, larger musical presentations or weekly worship services.
Chancel Choir
Sing to the Lord a new song, sing to the Lord all the whole earth, sing to the Lord and Bless His name!
Central to traditional worship at JUMC is the ministry of the Chancel Choir, made up of over twenty dedicated singers of all ages who join together for the purpose of giving glory to our Lord. Individuals who commit to the music ministry of JUMC understand that their service is a worship offering to God and is of key importance to the worshiping life of this congregation.
The musical repertoire of the Chancel Choir is broad and includes standard sacred classical repertoire, masterworks and contemporary anthems. The Chancel Choir sings for the traditional 11:00 service on Sundays and once a month for the traditional 8:00 service during the church year and for significant worship events throughout the year. The Chancel Choir leads the singing of hymns and offers both a choral anthem and benediction at every service. In addition, the Chancel Choir presents seasonal and special concerts.
Practice: Monday evening from 7:00-9:00 from September - June.

Trios or Quartet sing at the 8:00 am worship.
Handbell Choir
The Handbell Choir at JUMC plays at special services and at other events. We invite you to join us, whatever your age or musical experience. This ensemble is an entry-level choir focusing on basic handbell technique while learning music to offer at occasional morning worship services. Praise
Band
Our Praise Band provides music
for our 9:15 Contemporary Service. Members of this group are committed to
being leaders of worship in the service both singing and playing musical instruments, such as guitars, keyboards and drums.
Music is:
- current praise and worship
- recent contemporary Christian song
- hymns set in contemporary pop / rock style
Rehearsals: every Tuesday @ 7:30 pm.
Kids Choirs
There are two children's choirs: Praise Pals (Pre-K through 5th grade) and Joyful Noise (6th grade and up) Rehearsals are Sundays at 5:00 pm.
We sing a variety of music, learn to play musical instruments, and develop skills in rhythm, melody and harmony. Both choirs provide special music monthly in Sunday worship, as well as seasonal events.
